Job Responsibilities

As a special teacher, your role includes:

• Planning and conducting individually adapted instruction in reading and writing, both individually and in small groups.
• Working with early interventions to identify students in need of extra linguistic support.
• Conducting assessments of students' language, reading, and writing development, as well as following up and documenting progress.
• Being proactive in the school's work with reading and writing development and contributing to the adherence and development of routines.
• Collaborating closely with classroom teachers, special educators, and others in the student health team to create a comprehensive view of each student's needs.
• Contributing to strengthening a language-developing approach throughout the school.
• Providing guidance and support to teachers regarding additional adaptations and language-developing instruction.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

• is a licensed teacher with a special education degree focused on language, reading, and writing development
• has deep knowledge of early reading and writing acquisition and experience with various pedagogical methods and tools
• has an interest in and preferably experience in being responsible for or developing assessment routines
• has a positive, solution-focused, and relationship-building approach
• enjoys collaboration and sees the value of working in a team
• is flexible, curious, and engaged in supporting each student to reach their full potential.
